Free Public Skating
The Ivor MacDonald Memorial Arena offers an hour of free public skating every Saturday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.
*Free public skating is cancelled on March 7 due to a hockey tournament.
East Pictou Rural Fair
The East Pictou Rural Fair made its return in 2023, bringing back a week full of exciting community events. Highlights include many sports tournaments such as slo-pitch, pickleball, and ball hockey, firefighters’ competition, pageant, car show, children’s parade and carnival, horse pulls, pancake breakfast, parade, vendor market, and rink dance. These events are held at various locations throughout the community, including the Ivor MacDonald Memorial Arena, Thorburn Mohawks Ballfield, IOOF Hall, and Thorburn Consolidated School.
In addition to Fair Week, special events like the Halloween Trunk or Treat are hosted throughout the year.
